The End Is The Same, But Cruelty's Still Cruelty
-
The Earls restaurant chain in Canada (they have locations in the U.S., but it's a Canadian thing) has announced that it will use U.S. beef instead of Alberta beef because Alberta can't produce enough humanely raised beef and Kansas can. Canadian ranchers are appalled and protesting. But it does raise the question of whether you care how your food was raised. I'll admit to wincing every time I drive past the cattle ranches along the 5 freeway in Coalinga and see (and smell -- ugh) all those cows penned in tightly. But it doesn't stop me from my next burger. (CTV News)
