Because It Makes Sense To Assemble A Group Of Singers And Not Let Them Sing
-
Do you think the San Diego Padres, as an organization, intended to embarrass or diminish the Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego when they played a taped anthem rather than let them sing it on a Pride Night, with the chorus assembled on the field? There are other issues being debated, including making the chorus members buy tickets even if they weren't staying for the game (really, they make anthem singers buy tickets? A freebie would have been so hard?), but the main thing is the anthem and the disrespect, and it seems like it was either a misunderstanding or a flat-out mistake, but if it was the latter, they should have stopped it as soon as it started and let them sing. Really, let them sing. There's no reason they shouldn't have. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
