Apparently, texting and IM-ing and social media are killing off the period. No, really, people are getting used to not closing sentences with a full-stop period. In fact, ALL punctuation seems to be going away in favor of uncapitalized long sentences. One exception: If you want to denote snark or anger or sarcasm by putting a period after a word, like "Fine." or something like that. But, otherwise, no. Or maybe not totally so -- this article eschews periods, and you'll see that the LACK of the dots is... distracting. Not to mention that without punctuation, your message might have a different meaning than you intended, the "Eats Shoots and Leaves" problem. (New York Times)
