You Feel Sorry For Lawyers, Don't You?... Whaddya Mean, 'Let Them Rot In Hell'?
-
We have already determined that there are too many lawyers. So, why are mid-tier law schools still cranking out more lawyers? This article looks at Valparaiso's law school, which has tried to reduce the number of students it accepts, but that has driven up tuition to the level of Harvard, which then requires more financial aid and scholarships, which has to be made up somehow, which drives up everyone else's tuition, which... well, why bother? I have some experience with this, but I had plans for what I was going to do with my degree (and, somehow, it worked, sort of); I can't imagine how I'd feel if my plan was to be a practicing lawyer and, after spending all that money and three tough years of school and the bar exam, the only jobs available were greeting people at Walmart.
