We now have more information about the kid who got grilled by armed police about his comment about "brownies" at school: The police claim that someone at the school complained that he really did make a racial remark about how brownies were made of "burnt black people." The school felt the need to call the cops. Even after you recognize that the comment was a weird racial slur of sorts, do you call the cops over a stupid thing a third-grader says? It wasn't a threat, it was just an insult, a weird, unfunny insult, the kind third-graders say when they're trying to be funny. Shouldn't that be something a teacher handles? (Philadelphia Inquirer)
