I've Fallen, And I Can't Get Up. Or Talk
-
Technology giveth, and technology taketh away: A guy called 911 while having a heart attack, but couldn't speak, so the dispatcher figured it was a butt dial and moved on. But it wasn't a butt dial, and the man died. They're investigating, but you can understand that if they send EMTs or police out to every butt dial, that would be considered wasting valuable resources and money, so they really can't win, can they? Should there be a way to signal distress without speaking, whether it's due to medical trouble or the need not to make a sound? Like, a one-touch text? Should the dispatcher call back?
