SOMEONE Can Afford That Stuff, It Seems. Not Me, But Someone
-
Long Read: This article notes that the many reports we've gotten over the last decade about the death of the shopping mall miss the fact that some malls are stronger than ever, and the reason is that they've gone full-bore with luxury. Louis Vuitton and all that. They use one of our local malls here, South Coast Plaza, as an example: The place is full of super-expensive boutiques and restaurants, and business is booming, especially with busloads of Chinese tourists. (There ARE affordable stores there, too, but the entire wing between Nordstrom and Saks is insanely upscale, other than Macy's.) Is that how it is in your area? Are the ultra-expensive malls surviving and the Sears-Penneys malls dying? (Racked)
