It's Real, And It's Annoying
-
This article has spawned some reaction in the Apple fanboy community, and I'm putting it here because a) it's a decent topic and b) I've experienced the problem myself: Apple iPhone 6 Plus models have a flaw in which the screen becomes unresponsive to your touch, which is a problem insofar as you can't operate the phone without the touch screen. In some cases, there's a gray flickering bar at the top, and in others, like mine, you can get it working only by turning the screen off and on again (sometimes it takes two or three tries). It's a known problem, but -- here's the topic -- Apple will not recognize it and will not fix it out of warranty unless you pay $400 or more for a new phone. This is despite the fact that the problem has become fairly widespread and seems to be rooted in a design flaw in which the phone is prone to bending (you knew that) and chips that control the screen get unmoored -- some people can temporarily fix it by actually twisting the phone. You would think that Apple would just fess up and fix the damn thing like they've done, grudgingly, with other known issues, but they haven't, and some people think that it's a way to push 6 Plus users to upgrade to the new 7s when they're released in September. Which is the other way to fix the problem, I suppose. (iFixIt)
