What, And Miss Out On Guys We've Never Heard Of Playing 3 Quarters?

It took losing players to injury this week, including Benjamin Watson out for the season with a torn Achilles and Kenneth Dixon less seriously injured with a knee sprain, for John Harbaugh of the Ravens to declare that NFL preseason games should be eliminated in favor of scrimmages and practices -- he says he's always felt this way -- but the risk of injury IS the big issue. And while people love that football's back in August, let's face it, the games are terrible and meaningless, and season ticket holders are forced to buy the tickets at full price even though nobody really wants to sit through a preseason game in August heat. But how can you eliminate the games when the teams make money on them? Can you imagine convincing the Jerry Joneses and Stan Kroenkes of the world to agree to take less money out of fans' pockets and do the right thing? (ESPN)
