You know about the fake-IRS phone scam, and now here's one you might want to know about, thefake kidnapping phone scam, which involves someone calling you and claiming they've kidnapped your daughter and issuing you ransom instructions. They even have a muffled voice, ostensibly the "daughter," in the background. It's a variation of the "grandson in trouble overseas" call, it comes from overseas, and it's something that preys on your fears, Unless, that is, you don't HAVE a daughter, in which case you'll probably hang up on them.
