Not too long ago, Progresso soup ran commercials with their trademark tin-can phone schtick, and they clearly noted that the company's factory is in Vineland, NJ, which was depicted in the commercials as farmland, basically. Well, you can't believe anything anymore: Vineland isn't that farm-y these days (though it IS close to farmland and marshes), and Progresso is closing the plant, because they're at odds with the union over job cuts and, despite what the commercials insinuate, they can make the soup anywhere, and will, with 370 jobs lost at this plant. Wonder if the next series of ads will mention this. (NJ Advance Media/NJ.com)
