Sinclair Lewis was a celebrated author in his day, the first American to win the Nobel Prize for literature. His hometown, Saik Center, Minnesota, honors him with a memorial and interpretive center. And now, to underscore how everything changes, they're going to tear down the memorial to build a chain store. Any time you fret about not becoming famous, remember: Very, very, VERY few "household names" survive two or three generations after their passing. VERY few. (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
