Inadvisable But Understandable

Fun With Socialized Medicine: A man in Lancashire had an operation on his bowels 15 years ago. Since then, some sutures that were sticking out began to pop through his skin, and caused him pain. He tried to have them removed, but the hospital cancelled on him twice. In increasing pain, concerned that he was developing sepsis, and desperate, he resorted to operating on himself to take the sutures out. "There was a bit of blood and it stung a bit but I was confident in what I was doing," he told the BBC. And this is what happens when everything puts you on a waiting list; that's fine if you're not in pain, but if you're in agony and they keep delaying your treatment, what are you supposed to do?
