It's Like That At Padres Games Sometimes, Too, But The Padres Suck
-
I was watching the highlights of Tuesday's Jays-Mariners game at Seattle, in which Toronto blew the M's out, and I noticed something weird: The crowd at Safeco seemed to be almost entirely Jays fans. I mean, it looked like a Jays home game: everyone in Jays gear, cheering wildly for every hit. Of course, Seattle is close to the border and it's an easy hop from Vancouver, but it was still striking, almost Tampa Bay-like. And it's extra-weird in that the Mariners are still hanging in there with the Jays for the wild card, so these games are important for both teams. This Seattle columnist offers one excuse: M's fans have been burned before. But how can a city let its park be overrun by visiting fans in the middle of the pennant race? (Seattle Times)
