If You Have A Record, Maybe Politics Just Isn't In The Cards For You
-
The Executive Director of Trump's Georgia campaign has resigned after it was discovered that he had a criminal trespassing and battery conviction in 2008. The charges apparently involved intentionally damaging someone's property and hitting someone (he reportedly destroyed a laptop and slashed tires), but he pleaded out and got the charges reduced; he then got arrested for a fight with a neighbor that involved a gun, but he did pretrial diversion and the charges were dropped. Okay, whatever. The question is, do old criminal charges or convictions disqualify you from... well, what SHOULD they disqualify you from? If you hide the charges, you may not be someone trustworthy enough for some jobs, but if you got into a scuffle of some sort eight years ago, is that enough to make you unfit to run a political campaign? Even Trump's? (WSB-TV/Atlanta)
