I've Ridden Storms Out Because I Had To. It Is Not Fun. If You Can Get Out, Get Out
-
We forget. We always forget. I can remember what happened when Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida, how entire neighborhoods were leveled. After that, people said that they'd forever take storms seriously. And I was in Fort Lauderdale when Katrina hit as a Category 3 on the way to further calamity in the Gulf, and some people were wiped out in flooding and downed poles and trees. So when I see some people -- including Vanilla Ice, noted expert -- staying put or throwing hurricane parties like Andrew never happened, I'm appalled. People, take this seriously. It's not like you haven't been warned. (New York Post)
