MetLife is getting out of the life insurance business in the U.S., spinning off that part of the operation and repositioning the company as a B-to-B sort of, um, it doesn't matter, because the big news is that they're firing Snoopy and getting rid of the blimps. They don't think they need the Peanuts characters anymore, so a decades-long tradition (since 1985) of Snoopy ads and blimps over sporting events will end. I wonder how long it'll be before anyone will even notice. That association will live on in people's minds for years. (Wall Street Journal)
