They Lie To You: Here in L.A. County, there's a ballot measure, Measure M, that seeks to tax us even more for mass transit boondoggles, and among the assurances they give s in all the ads is that it will "reduce your time stuck in traffic by 15% a day." That's all they say, no disclaimer. But if -- and that's a big if -- that would ever be true, it will be no sooner than 2057. And it would not actually reduce your sitting-in-traffic time, it would merely reduce the number of times you got stuck in traffic by that amount, and even then it would require you to be on certain routes where the projects are supposed to go. In other words, they'll take your money and you'll still get stuck. And a large portion of the county will have to pay the tax yet aren't on the list of areas to get any improvements at all, including MY area. But shameless money grabs work if the public refuses to inform itself. (Los Angeles Times)
