Why Can't It Be Pomegranites Instead?
-
It happened once before, and it's about to happen again: banana extinction. This is not a drill. It seems that banana growers didn't learn from the last crisis, which happened many years ago: they bred a particular kind of banana that could survive the blight that killed off its predecessor (albeit with less flavor), but then proceeded to make that version almost 100% of the kind exported to U.S. and other markets. And as nature has a tendency to do, a new blight rose up and is now threatening the current version, with no replacement or variation available. Should have seen this coming. (CNN)
