Turning Lemons Into (Smoky) Lemonade
-
A pallet of peated malt survived the Fort McMurray wildfires this summer, so the brewery there is distilling it into a whiskey appropriately named The Beast, the name of the wildfire that devastated the northern Alberta city. And the malt absorbed smoke from the fire, so it's going to be a unique flavor. They're only going to make 200 bottles, and the first 10 are being auctioned this week for charity; it'll be ready to drink in five years, and, yeah, that's a pretty cool way to turn a little part of a terrible situation into something positive.
