At Least There Are Big Bucks In Tweeting, Right? No? Huh
-
Remember when reporters at least feigned impartiality and would never dream of announcing their political positions to the public? That went away, I suppose, when social media became popular, so now we have a freelancer who reported for the L.A. Times in South Korea tweeting himself into unemployment by joking that he'd like to see Trump dead in response to a Time magazine tweet promoting a gallery of pictures from Trump's life. Yes, it was an obvious joke, but you have to ask yourself, every time you tweet, whether saying what you're about to say is worth the possible fallout. Even obvious jokes. You know people will not all get the joke, or think it's funny. And if you're a reporter, you have to ask yourself if you want people to use what you say to "prove" your bias. (Los Angeles Times)
