Put That Ladle Down And Keep Your Hands Where We Can See Them

Why can't law enforcement just use common sense? Police set up a sting and arrested people for the horrific, society-threatening crime of selling each other homemade food via a Facebook group, and one woman's refusing to plead guilty and is taking the risk of jail time to battle what she thinks is a silly prosecution. And it is. Okay, if you're going to say someone can't sell an acquaintance a bowl of ceviche or something because there are health laws and taxes and stuff involved, fine, but arrest? Prosecution? Can't the cops just say, hey, we see you're doing this, the law says you can't, just, you know, don't? Like a verbal warning to cover their asses, but no real harm, no foul? Why do they waste everyone's time when there are many, many more problems needing police attention and resources? (KTXL-TV/Sacramento)
