Because The Regular Traffic Isn't Filled With Enough Crazy Reckless Drivers
-
This article asks if police chases are worth the risk of bystander injuries, and that's a very good question, isn't it? L.A. police chases hurt 78 innocent bystanders last year, beating the previous record of 61 in 2005. Nine have died in the last decade. And you've seen the danger on TV, when a fleeing suspect rams other cars and flies through red lights and stop signs. But what's the alternative- letting the car go? Or, as another option, should helicopters just keep track of the car and let the cops know when it's stopped? (Los Angeles Times)
