Though Who's Gonna Mistake A Disney Cartoon For... That?
-
Disney often changes the titles of its movies in different countries, usually to match the local language. Very rarely is the change radical. It's usually like changing "Zootopia" to "Zootropolis" in some countries because "utopia" doesn't translate, but in Italy, its new "Moana" will be called "Oceania" because "Moana," in Italy, is the name of a porn star, one famous enough so that they're afraid of the connection. The main character's name will also be changed to "Vaiana," which is the movie's title in some countries due to a trademark conflict. You'd think a company as large as Disney would have their lawyers clear everything and help find a non-trademarked, non-porn name BEFORE the picture's done, but I guess not. (New York Post)
