Let's Just Agree To Forget That Particular Moment In Time, Okay?

Alexandria, VA's local government made the decision to move a Confederate memorial statue and rename Jefferson Davis Highway but the statue move's been held up because, under state law, they may not be able to do it. Nevertheless, they're moving ahead with the highway name, and you can't blame them for wanting to stop honoring that particular part of history, but you have to wonder if it's ever a good idea to name anything after anybody, considering all the cases in which later generations find out stuff about the honorees that make naming things after them questionable.
