Change It To What?
-
The New York Times is asking readers to respond to this question: "Did You Change Your Name When You Married?" OK, then, did you? Did your spouse? My wife did and I was surprised -- you want MY name?!? -- but it does make things easier, even if it's not entirely necessary. And then there are the hyphenates and those who combine two surnames into one, and the rare but not unheard-of cases when the husband changes his name. The only difference in dealing with the question today as opposed to back in the '60s and '70s when it first became a big deal issue is that it can now apply to gay marriages, too. (New York Times)
