They're Getting 30 Percent Off The Legal Fees, Too
-
The Los Angeles city attorney is suing JC Penney, Sears, Kohl’s and Macy’s on the grounds that they've been deceptive when they advertise big discounts but the "manufacturer's suggested retail price" is phony. This happens a lot, apparently, and it raises the question of whether you believe those MSRPs are true when you shop. (It's even more blatant at "outlet stores," where they slap MSRPs on stuff that was specifically made for the outlets and was never sold at the MSRP shown on the tag.) (Los Angeles Times)
