Because You Can't Find Too Many Kris Bryants Out There

Interesting analysis by ESPN's Jayson Stark here about how, while fans still love sluggers, baseball GMs are no longer interested in home run hitters, at least the guys who do little else at the plate but hit dingers. It's this bad: Chris Carter won the NL home run race last year and got non-tendered by the Brewers, and is still looking to sign with someone as a free agent, while AL home run champ Mark Trumbo ended up re-signing with the Orioles after getting little attention on the free agent market. GMs want "complete players." Fans want balls sailing out of the park. So, would you rather have a winning team that does it by getting on base and scoring on singles or a team with guys who either strike out or hit massive bombs? (ESPN)
