Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) did a town hall this weekend and it did not go well. In fact, the place was flooded with protestors and tough questions, and, while it's downplayed in this article, hundreds of protestors shut out of the room surrounded the entrance to the hall, and the lasting image of McClintock, a Trump defender, was of him being fleeing in a speeding SUV after refusing to talk to the people outside. This scene will repeat itself nationwide, and I'll be interested in seeing if Trump-defending elected officials try to engage the opposition in conversation or run away; it'll be a gauge of whether they're comfortable defending Trump on the merits or they really don't want to be pressed, and how they view their re-election chances as depending on their support or abandonment of the president.
