Now, We Talk To An Eyewitness To The Crash, Heywood Jablome. Mr. Jablome....

The guy whose alleged drunk driving injured 28 people at a Carnival parade in New Orleans has been identified, and it's always interesting to me when the news media converge on a clueless family member -- in this case, the suspect's grandmother -- who immediately insists that the suspect is a good boy and hasn't been a problem and has just been trying to stay out of trouble, that's all. Also, she has seen him maybe once or twice a year and doesn't really stay in touch. This raises the question of what news the media thinks it'll get from talking to a relative who hasn't been in touch with the suspect much over the years. Will she be surprised? Yes, yes, she will be surprised. Will she be able to shed any light on his motivation? No, we've determined that she barely knows the guy, really. So what's the point?
