Have Another Worker Carry The Bike. Problem Solved
-
A man is suing Kroger and a temp agency for not making accommodations for his disability, and before you launch into a tirade about the ADA, here's his disability: no arms. Born near Chernobyl without arms. He was doing work for the HR department, and he can answer calls and type reports with his feet, which is pretty remarkable. The problem is that they made him enter the building not through the front door pavilion (because they decided it might "dirty up the carpet") but, because he was bringing his special bicycle into the building, through a rear entrance that forced him to carry the bike up and down stairs to the bike storage room, which he could not do. They fired him for not complying. This is the kind of thing they surely could have worked out, but when corporate bureaucrats get involved, all bets are off. (KATU-TV/Portland)
