Do you eat nuts? Seafood? Fruit and vegetables? Whole grains? You probably don't eat enough, U.S. government data suggests. And you're eating the wrong things, because things like bacon, red meat, and soda can lead to your death from heart disease, stroke, or diabetes. The problem is how much of the good stuff you're supposed to eat: 3 fruits a day, 4 cups raw or 2 cups cooked veggies daily, about 20 nuts or seeds a day, 2 1/2 servings of whole grains every day, 8 ounces of seafood weekly. That's a lot, and ir doesn't leave a lot of room for things you might prefer. But there's no question that we eat too much junk, so... would you rather live longer and give up the junk food you like, or eat what you want and know that you might lose some years?
