Here's another story about an employee who clearly thought he could get away with something that he wasn't smart enough to do: he worked as a controller for a trucking company and wrote himself $754,279.48 in fraudulent bonus checks over four years, because he probably thought nobody would notice. But they always do, so he'll be spending 8 years and 8 months in prison and will have to pay back the money AND $39,032 in state taxes. He should have realized that if you take that much money in that short a time, people WILL notice. They'll always notice money missing, but doing it like that guarantees you'll get caught.
