There's a battle brewing between homeless people and the authorities over a homeless encampment in Orange County, which would not be more than a very local story except that one of the reasons the county wants the homeless out of there is that the camp is right by the fence surrounding Angel Stadium. We can't have baseball fans encounter homeless people, can we? Actually, it IS a security problem, but it's also a societal problem and a drug and alcohol problem and a mental illness problem and it's not going to be fixed by shoving the homeless from place to place. But like in San Diego for last year's All-Star Game, the authorities do not want baseball and homelessness to mix. Understandable, yet what's the answer? (KABC-TV/Los Angeles)
