A study -- okay, it was only a few guys tested and I'm not buying it, but whatever -- says that soaking in a hot tub can burn as many calories as mild exercise like walking. No physical exertion and the same effect? SIGN ME UP. I'm not convinced, though -- one of the points of exercise is to get your heart rate up, and maybe being boiled alive can do that, but I'm skeptical. Still, the appeal of health benefits from doing something that relaxing is pretty strong. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
