Where Have You Gone, Siskel And Ebert? A Nation Turns Its Lonely Eyes To You

The new movie "The Promise" is getting terrible reviews on IMDB, but the movie hasn't even opened yet and the reviews aren't coming from the critics who attended screenings. What's going on? Yes, it's another case of people trolling with bad reviews of a movie they haven't seen for reasons other than the movie's quality. This time, because the movie takes place with the background of the massacre of Armenians at the end of the Ottoman Empire, and you know what that means: the denizens of a Turkish message board are trying to kill the movie (which they say is about the -- their term -- "so-called" Armenian genocide) with bad reviews. We've seen this before, from "Ghostbusters" and Amy Schumer's Netflix special. Would a low IMDB rating, however it was derived, deter you from going to see a movie? Do you trust online reviews?
