We Are All Mic'd Up Now
-
Two high school coaches recently found themselves out of a job because, apparently (the schools won't say for sure), of things they said in the locker room during team meetings. But they really didn't say anything worthy of a firing, which can be proven because the talks were surreptitiously recorded by students with cell phones, and, also apparently, you don't have to say anything terribly controversial to get fired. But at the risk of sounding like Trump pointing at the leaks instead of addressing the truth of the things being leaked, should students be recording those talks? Isn't that kind of the antithesis of the kind of team relationship school sports are supposed to have? Isn't it "what we say in here, stays in here"? And are we approaching a time when we have to assume that everything we say or do will be recorded and could be released, whether we consent or not? (Los Angeles Times)
