If You Can Afford It, It's A Reason To Always Fly First Class
-
An Australian man is suing American Airlines for permanent injuries sustained when he was seated between two obese people on a long flight. You know, that can happen. My wife was in that position when a very strange, morbidly obese German man who spoke no English decided to sit in her row in the middle seat on a flight, encroaching on both aisle and window seats, and then would not move despite it not being his seat; he responded to all entreaties from the flight attendants by staring at them, smiling broadly, and nodding with total lack of comprehension. They gave up. The flight was booked solid and they wouldn't move Fran or the other passenger in the row. What can you do if that happens? If someone doesn't fit in a standard seat -- and we do have to take into account that seats in economy are too damn small -- should they be seated if they haven't purchased the adjacent seats?
