11th Commandment: Thou Shalt Not, Um, Do That
-
He did it again: The guy who a few years ago drove his car into a Ten Commandments monument at Oklahoma's state Capitol is now charged with being the guy who drove his car into Arkansas' new Ten Commandments monument outside the state Capitol, the day after it was installed. Nobody's gonna support destruction like that, and they shouldn't. But it also raises the topic of why it's so important for some people that religion is represented in or near government buildings, whatever the law or Constitution may allow. I mean, you can believe in what you want to believe in, but when you put it in a spot like that, you're trying to enforce it on others who may not believe in the same thing. Would you be OK with another religion erecting a monument there, or posting its beliefs in the courtroom, or asserting itself like that in any way? (Los Angeles Times)
