Hey, Kids! Your Safety's Worth 13 Bucks An Hour To The Owner Of This Ride
-
He loves his job, that much should be made clear. Nevertheless, this Disney World ride operator makes $13/hour after 17 years on the job, and that's not a living wage. He takes the bus -- can't afford a car -- and lives in a cheap motel, because that's all he can afford. You can argue that fast food workers don't deserve high wages because they're replaceable and the market doesn't consider them worth more than minimum, but a ride operator at Disney is more of a skilled position, requires training, and Disney makes a fortune, so... well, the union's talking about getting that bumped up a little.
