Man Want Beef. Beef And Beer. Where Beer? Man Want Beer

I have always done a lot of grocery shopping, back when I was single and lugging a backpack down Lancaster Avenue full of Lean Cuisines and English muffins from the Acme and now, married and still running up to the Ralphs to buy the week's provisions. So I don't really identify with this article in which it's said that supermarkets are adapting to be more appealing to make shoppers, and that the groceries assume that men are stupid about food shopping. Men's Health says that 84% of men say they're the primary grocery shoppers in their households, but they only surveyed men; other surveys say women are in the lead, but not by much. That's all to say that while there's been an increase in men shopping for food, these studies are also terribly reductive, saying that men only buy what they need right now ("hunters") while women plan, and men buy more expensive meat and stuff that's visible and eye-catching. In other words, they think men are stupid shoppers. I think that's an outdated stereotype. (Washington Post)
