Did you know that after the Civil War, Jefferson Davis fled to Montreal for a couple of years after serving time for treason? He did, and for some reason he was honored with a plaque on the side of The Bay department store in downtown Montreal. This was done in 1957. 1957! They've just now removed it, but you have to ask: What were they thinking in 1957, and why did nobody think that this might be a problem until now? (Montreal Gazette)
