Better Late Than Never. Barely

The Iowa Lottery has a "Lucky for Life" game with a top prize of $25,000 a year for life. But you can take it in a lump sum, which is a good thing for the guy who won: he's 92 years old. He took $390,000 up front, $273,000 after taxes, and he'll use it to go to Hawaii and Switzerland. At least they let him enjoy the money rather than stick to the yearly sum, which wouldn't have gotten him quite as far. (Iowa City Press-Citizen)
