We'll Always Have That Night In Cleveland With The Bugs

Joba Chamberlain has retired, and you didn't even know he was still in the league, did you? (He hadn't pitched since last season, but he hadn't technically retired until now.) The topic here, of course, is how someone who everyone thinks is going to be a superstar somehow doesn't quite make it that big. Remember when Joba came to the Yankees and they thought he'd be the new Mariano Rivera? But they couldn't decide how to use him in the interim, starter or reliever, and he kind of drifted? How much of the hype was because he was a Yankee? Can't cry for him, though; he's getting to spend time with his kid, he invested in a bar/restaurant chain, and as much of a disappointment as his baseball career may be, he pitched in the majors for 10 years and you most likely didn't.
