We're still talking about Uggs? Yes, and the capital U is the key. See, in Australia -- you Australians can confirm or deny -- "uggs" is generic, and lots of companies make them, but in the U.S., someone got a trademark for the word, and is suing an Australian shoe maker for selling generic shoes called "uggs." Is that fair? If a word's become generic in one country, should a company in another country be able to claim it as a trademark and block others from competing in that second country?
