Your right-wing friends are sending you pictures of empty NFL stadiums and claiming that people are staying home because of the knee thing. Is that true? Not really. Attendance is markedly off at 49ers, Rams, and Chargers games, but there are other reasons for that. And some of the empty-seat pictures are at kickoff or the beginning of the third quarter, when a lot of fans are still down in the concourse or, in the lower bowl, in the lounge areas. Attendance has been a little down for years, but TV watching is generally up, and where games were traditionally sold out, they're still sold out. So, no. (SFGate.com)
