More and more runners are wearing compression socks and tights, because they... um... well, here's the thing: They don't really do anything for you, running-wise. They're meant to be worn when you fly, to keep swelling down, but they don't have any proven beneficial effect for other physical exercise. Why are people wearing them, then? Placebo effect, maybe. Or fashion. The best news: They don't cause any problems, themselves. So they can't hurt. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
