At Least Turn Off The Jackhammers During The Ceremony, Okay?
-
One of the great unregulated businesses prone to trouble is the wedding reception industry. Our own reception lost its venue a month before the big day after we were promised it and put down a deposit; the owners decided that they'd make more money from someone else. So I can feel empathy towards the couple who discovered at the very last minute, without getting any notice, that the banquet hall they'd rented decided to do construction that rendered the place externally unrecognizable and would have workers there visible to guests at the reception. If your big day was suddenly in an unmarked building with plastic sheeting all over it, you'd be upset, too. But, like this couple, you'd probably have no choice but to plow ahead, because you can't reschedule something like that too easily. Believe me, I know how hard it is (yes, we found an alternative and redid everything...). (KSTP-TV/St. Paul-Minneapolis)
