OK, You Can Go, But You Have To PROMISE Not To Stab Anyone At Macy's
-
The Mall of America thief/stabber just happens to have a history of mental illness, but the courts' treatment of him has been... inconsistent. He was in a mental health facility last November when he took off his pants, went to the nurses' desk, and stabbed two staffers with a pen, yet a court examiner said he was not mentally ill. Still, he was sent back for treatment, and a judge granted a motion to keep him in the facility for six more months -- that was in June. And then he was ruled mentally ill and therefore not guilty of the stabbings by reason of insanity. Which raises a huge question: Why was he released? Did someone rule him cured? Because he wasn't.
