Forget That. Who Invented The Pop-O-Matic, And Did He Or She Get The Nobel Prize?
-
A court case poses the question "Who invented Life?" Okay, it's more specific: Who invented the Game of Life? You would think they'd have worked that out by now, since the game dates back to 1959, but the widow of a toy inventor is suing Hasbro and another man, a marketer who she says took credit for her late husband's invention. She wants over $2 million in royalties. For their part, the defendants say that the inventor was actually just hired to mock up a prototype, that the game was commissioned by Hasbro predecessor Milton Bradley to celebrate that company's 100th anniversary and that Milton Bradley approached the marketer and his partner Art Linkletter (!) with the idea. Again, if there was a real dispute, why did it take almost 60 years? (AP via Providence Journal)
